Style Weekly releases music issue with free iPod

Style Weekly yesterday released its seventh annual music issue, featuring profiles of several Richmond area bands and a four-gigabyte iPod nano loaded with local songs.

“We thought long and hard about putting a CD inside, but realizing that everyone’s pretty much gone digital, we thought the iPod was the best choice,” said Jason Roop, editor of the city’s alternative weekly newspaper.  “I can’t say it was the most cost-effective idea, though.”

While Roop said readers appreciated the paper and $15.2 million worth of iPods, he added that “folks will flip” for the free gifts included in the upcoming Beer Issue, Flat-Screen TV Issue, and The One Thing You’ve Always Wanted But Never Dreamed You’d Ever Get Issue.
