Already the pitchman for a Richmond flooring company, a windshield-replacement service, a furniture store and a number of other local businesses, area radio personality Bill Bevins today forgot which product he was speaking on behalf of during filming of a TV commercial.
“Hi, I’m Bill Bevins, and for the past 36 years Richmonders have come to one place whenever they’re in need of an oriental rug, or, what’s that? No? No? Chest of drawers? Heating?” the local celebrity and host of Lite 98′s “Wake Up Show” said.
Surrounded by a five-piece maple bedroom set, designer curtains and exquisite overhead lighting, Bevins wondered if any of those products were the ones he’d been hired to promote.
“Sorry, give me that next line again? How’s my voice, loud enough? Am I good now?” Bevins said, attempting to cover up his momentary lapse in memory. When told the endorsement was indeed for the bedroom set, Bevins said he honestly thought the $1,199 price was a good deal, unlike last week’s pitch for a house-siding company, or maybe it was for plumbing.
